Hachidorisou is always looking to facilitate more research in Shikoku. We work closely in monitoring new health developments, talking with other breeders, talking to labs, veterinarians, clinics, etc. We would also like to facilitate opportunities for testing to those with Shikoku that have known and unknown health problems both in the US and Internationally.

If you own a Shikoku diagnosed with any of the following issues please message us to discuss further funded testing/diagnosis opportunities. 

 

* Epilepsy or any other neurological diagnosis 

* Glaucoma

* Any eye issue other than PPM Iris to Iris 

* Spinal or tail deformities

* Any unusual health diagnosis

If you have a dog with any of the above issues we may be able offer privately funded testing options which can include further vet visits, xrays, eye exams, specialist exams, and also DNA testing and analysis. All results and data must be shared with Hachidorisou.

Any test results funded by Hachidorisou will be private unless permission is given by the owner to share, however, data may be shared anonymously for educational and statistical purposes.

It is important to note that these research opportunities may not, and often do not, provide any answers. They usually leave us with more questions but they are important questions to ask.
