Q: How much do Shikoku cost?
A: Our Shikoku here at Hachidorisou are $4,500 and the price does NOT vary depending on color, age, pedigree or titles, etc. All Shikoku are the same price. A deposit is required to reserve a puppy.
Q: Do you sell Shikoku with Breeding Rights?
A: Not at this time. No exceptions.
Q: Do you allow people to come to your house to see the puppies?
A: Not at this time. We have had a pretty extreme issue with stalking and had someone jump the fence and attempt to steal a puppy from our back yard before. We no longer feel safe having people visit us at any of our homes but will gladly load up dogs to meet anyone interested in meeting Shikoku.
Q: What is the wait time for a Shikoku from your kennel?
A: Average wait time is 1-2 years but wait is always variable. It's entirely possible that sometimes there is no wait as its common for those on my wait list to "pass" on available puppies if timing isn't good and, of course, we cant control mother nature so timing is never great. If your waiting for a specific gender or/or color it can potentially increase your wait time.
Q: Where are you located?
A: We are located in Virginia though we have homes in many states. Message to find out where we're staying at the time.
Q: How many Shikoku do you have?
A: We own more than a dozen Shikoku in name though only 4 ever live on property with us at a time. We have been blessed to have many amazing Guardian owners who allow their dogs to remain intact so they can contribute to Shikoku Preservation efforts here in the states.
Q: Do you ship puppies?
A: I require all owners to pick up their puppy in person. However, if you are flying we can help you arrange for the puppy to travel home with you on the plane. We do not fly puppies without meeting you in person first.
Q: I am unable to travel how can I get my puppy?
A: I offer to flight nanny and meet you at your local airport at your expense. It is an additional fee plus the actual cost of travel.
Q: Can I fly with my puppy in cabin?
A: Yes, if your picking up your puppy before they are 4 months old they will fit in a soft travel carrier and fit under the seat in cabin with you when flying. Airline regulations vary so please check requirements ahead of time.
